
VSIA “National Rehabilitation Centre “Vaivari”” has launched the European Union Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM) supported project “Enhancing the Accessibility of Technical Aids” in 2025.
The aim of the project is to improve the accessibility of technical aids for persons with functional disabilities, promoting their independence in daily life and reducing the need for care, especially in the field of long-term social care.
Planned funding:
The total project funding is 8,113,526 EUR, of which:
- 7,196,909 EUR – Recovery Fund funding;
- 916,617 EUR – state budget funding (VAT).
The project implementation period: January 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.
Main activities include:
- distribution of technical aids using a coupon method or co-payment;
- improvement of the website to ensure digital content accessibility and a catalog of technical aids;
- implementation of communication and visual identity requirements;
- administration and implementation of the project.
Target indicator:
By June 30, 2026, it is planned to distribute at least 10,474 technical aids to persons with functional disabilities, as defined in Section 25 of the Social Services and Social Assistance Law.
The implementation of the project is carried out in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers regulations No. 83 of February 4, 2025.
This initiative is part of a broader reform “Accessibility of Social and Employment Services to Support Minimum Income Reform” in the RRM direction 3.1 “Regional Policy”.
