Upon receiving an assistive device, a contract is concluded between the client and the VTPC or service provider. It specifies the transfer method (loan, ownership, or lease) and usage conditions.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers regulations, assistive devices can be transferred:
- in ownership - the assistive device becomes your property and does not need to be returned;
- on loan - the assistive device remains state property, and you use it for a specified period;
- on lease – the assistive device is provided to you for use based on a lease agreement.
The contract always specifies:
- the type of assistive device,
- the usage term,
- warranty and repair conditions,
- the return or exchange procedure.
We encourage you to carefully familiarize yourself with the contract conditions to use the assistive device safely and correctly.
Transfer of Assistive Device Ownership
Some assistive devices are transferred to the client’s ownership. In this case:
- You become the owner of the assistive device,
- the assistive device does not need to be returned to VTPC,
Assistive devices that are not practical to return or reuse are usually transferred to ownership.
Transfer of Assistive Device on Loan
The majority of technical aids are transferred on loan (free use). This means that:
- the assistive device remains state property,
- you use it for a specified period,
- after the contract term ends, it must be returned to VTPC,
If the loaned assistive device cannot be returned to VTPC, there may be an obligation to cover its value to a certain extent (15%–75%).
Transfer of Assistive Device for Rent
In certain cases, the assistive device is rented out. Then:
- a rental agreement is concluded,
- the agreement specifies the rental period, usage conditions, and return procedure.

Redemption of Assistive Device
The assistive device received on loan can be redeemed.
To do this:
- you must ensure that the loan agreement term has ended,
- you must submit an application to VTPC for the purchase of the assistive device.
Redemption price: 15% of the assistive device's value.
After redemption, the assistive device becomes your property.
Example:
If the value of the assistive device is €100, the redemption fee will be €15.
When the Assistive Device Automatically Becomes Your Property
The assistive device received on loan automatically becomes your property if:
- it has been used one and a half times longer than the term specified in the contract.
Example:
If the usage period specified in the contract is 3 years, after 4.5 years, the assistive device automatically becomes your property.
No additional documents are required.
