Provision of technical aids to civilian residents of Ukraine

The State Ltd. “National Rehabilitation Centre “Vaivari”” (hereinafter – NRC “Vaivari”), in accordance with the Law on Support for Civilian Residents of Ukraine dated March 3, 2022, provides civilian residents of Ukraine with functional impairments the opportunity to receive technical aids according to medical indications.

On December 11, 2024, amendments to the Law on Support for Civilian Residents of Ukraine regarding the provision of technical aids to civilian residents of Ukraine came into force. Paragraph 4 of the first part of Article 7 of the amendments stipulates: the state provides civilian residents of Ukraine with technical aids that are financed by the state.

For the first time, a technical aid is provided to a civilian resident of Ukraine on an urgent basis, and subsequently – in accordance with the regulations regarding the provision of technical aids, namely:
 

FIRST TIME 

To receive the service of a technical aid (assistive device), a civilian resident of Ukraine must submit to VTPC:

  • a doctor's conclusion regarding the receipt of a technical aid, issued in e-veselība;

  • a copy of the identity document;

  • a copy of the visa, residence permit, asylum seeker certificate, or other document confirming the legal status of the person in the Republic of Latvia.
     

REPEATED REQUEST

In the case of a repeated request for a technical aid, the same procedure applies as defined by the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 878 and is applicable to residents of Latvia.

When reapplying for a technical aid, a civilian resident of Ukraine must submit to VTPC:

  • a personal application;

  • a doctor's conclusion regarding the receipt of a technical aid, issued in e-veselība;

  • a copy of the identity document;

  • a copy of the visa, residence permit, asylum seeker certificate, or other document confirming the legal status of the person in the Republic of Latvia.
