Opinion on receiving an assistive device in the E-health system

From January 1, 2024 medical institutions will have the opportunity to prepare (and store) an opinion on receiving an assistive device for a person electronically in the E-health system.

This means that if a person receives an opinion on an assistive device prepared electronically in the E-health system by their treating physician or functional specialist (occupational therapist, physiotherapist, technical orthopedist, or audiologist), there is no need to submit the opinion in paper format at the Vaivari Technical Aids Centre (hereinafter – VTPC), and in this case, only the person's application for receiving the assistive device (original) and other documents as necessary must be submitted to the VTPC. 

Justification: Amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers regulations No. 134 of March 11, 2014, "Regulations on the unified electronic information system of the health sector" dated December 12, 2023

At the same time, we inform you that the person's application for receiving an assistive device and the opinion on receiving an assistive device (originals) can still be submitted to the VTPC:

  1. in person at one of the VTPC branches:
    • 53 Ventspils Street, Riga, 
    • 60 Jelgavas Street, Kuldiga, 
    • 81 Atbrīvošanas Alley, Rēzekne; 
  2. sent by mail to one of the VTPC branches addressed to “Vaivari Technical Aids Centre”: 
    • 53 Ventspils Street, Riga, LV – 1002;
    • 60 Jelgavas Street, Kuldiga, LV - 3301;
    • 81 Atbrīvošanas Alley, Rēzekne, LV - 4601
  3. sent electronically to the official electronic address of the State SIA “National Rehabilitation Centre “Vaivari”” or to the VTPC email address: vtpc@nrc.lv:
    • application for receiving an assistive device, signed by the person with  a secure electronic signature;
    • opinion  on the assistive device, prepared and signed by a medical professional with a secure electronic signature.

Reminder:

  • clients are accepted in person only by prior appointment; (more details in the section “Current information on receiving and repairing assistive devices”);
  • clients are not accepted at the VTPC branches on the first Wednesday of each month.
