The 15th anniversary conference of the Vaivari Technical Aids Centre has taken place!

The conference was opened by Margarita Epermane, Chairperson of the Board of the National Rehabilitation Centre, Board Member Zoja Osipova, representatives from the Ministry of Welfare and the Ministry of Health. 

The speakers at the conference included Vita Deičmane, Head of Service Provision at VTPC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Med. Signe Tomsone from the RSU Rehabilitation Department, the pioneer of rehabilitation medicine in Latvia, Prof. Aivars Vētra - President of the Latvian Rehabilitation Professional Organizations Association, Irina Grečnaja - NRC “Vaivari” physician in physical and rehabilitation medicine, Functioning Assessment Laboratory; health promotion consultant Filips Bernadskis, Head of the Vaivaru Orthotics and Prosthetics Centre, technical orthopedist Ēriks Švēde, and VTPC senior physiotherapist Laura Slavinska.

The conference began with a historical overview of the centre's 15 years of operation, where industry specialists informed about the process of assessing the environment and selecting an appropriate assistive device for each client, explaining how important it is to correctly prepare and process the necessary documents for receiving technical aids. The conference introduced the experience of the Functioning Assessment Laboratory of the Vaivari Technical Aids Centre, which conducts in-depth assessments of assistive devices, mobility aids, and orthopedic shoes to ensure their suitability for specific users. In-person participants and online conference listeners were introduced to the work of the Functioning Assessment Laboratory, which is the only one in Latvia, conducting in-depth assessments of individuals and making conclusions about the technical aids needed by clients.
