Assessment of Individual Functioning
Some groups of technical aids (TA) require an in-depth functional assessment to determine whether a specific TA meets the patient's abilities and daily needs. Such an assessment is necessary in the following cases of TA allocation:
- upper and lower limb prostheses;
- orthoses and orthopedic shoes;
- various mobility assistive devices (electric scooters, wheelchairs);
- seating systems and adapted children's car seats;
- alternative communication technical aids (ACTA).
This section provides professionals with a quick overview of the specific factors, risks, and necessary steps in each TA group to prepare a comprehensive opinion.
Information is structured to be quickly usable during the visit for both preparing the opinion and providing comprehensive information to the patient about its necessity and the process.
Used Medical Information Systems
FNL employees in the process of assessing functioning for the decision-making regarding the allocation of technical aids rely not only on clinical evaluations but also on data available in state and institutional systems (diagnoses, previously allocated technical aids, functioning history, documentation). FNL employees use the following medical information systems in their work:
- www.datamed.lv
- www.eveseliba.gov.lv
- NRC “Vaivari” information systems.
